While growing up, I constantly used the study in our home for doing my homework or instant messaging my friends that I just spent all day with because it was the cool thing to do or at least I thought it was. :) Anyway, I remembering my mom having the biggest maps in that room; one of the USA and one of the world. I loved those maps. I would often go and look at those maps, study them and daydream about which country I wanted to visit and what I would do if I went there. I believe that having those maps helped me learn geography and also helped me avoid an embarassing situation while I competed in pageants like this:
So embarrassing. Poor girl. I still feel bad for her to this day. Anyway, not only are maps super educational, but they can be stylish for interiors as well. Believe it or not, maps are popping up more and more in interiors. Here are some of my favorites:

I don't know "where" that second map was located, but it totally inspired me to consider a map for our kitchen backsplash. My husband is a Surveyor, drawing maps for our living so how appropriate is that!?! (=
